Recording on DV-CAM provides a digital image comparable to or surpassing Beta SP - with no digitizing... All Digital, All the time.
The built-in deck can accept both Mini-DV tapes and larger DV-CAM cassettes providing up to 184 minutes of uninterupted shooting time with audio quality surpassing that of CD-ROMs.

The DSR 500 is also equipped with a FIREWIRE (iLink) port meaning we can import video, audio and timecode directly into our G4 Titanium or Aluminum Powerbooks in a process we call LIVE CAPTURE. With LIVE CAPTURE, the media files are stored right on the hardrive, ready for editing. No script notes, no time-consuming log & capture sessions. Why bother searching through hand-written notes for continuity questions when you can review takes instantly - with no rewinding and broken timecodes. We can even do rough cuts in the field so you'll know you have the coverage you need. Production was never easier or more headache-free.

	Unlike our Sony DSR-500WS, these popular "pro-sumer" cameras use tiny CCDS for image capture.
Canon Elura 1/4 inch CCDs, 360,000 effective pixels. Records on Mini-DV only.	Picture quality is generally good in perfect lighting conditions, but they just can't handle the range of conditions often encountered in location production.	Canon XL-1 1/3 inch CCDs, 250,000 effective pixels. Records on Mini-DV only.

Our camera is just the start. We've designed our field production package to deliver the best picture and sound quality possible, and do it with a minimum of fuss.

For instance, the Digital DV-CAM format allows for instantaneous full-color playback and over 180 minutes of record time per cassette. No more - "Sorry, time to change tape!" - just as the going gets good.

Packaged in mobile, easy-to-access soft cases, our field production package includes the DSR 500WS camera, batteries, color monitor and a high-quality fluid head tripod. We also include two lavaliers, shotgun and omnidirectional microphones, a field mixer, headphones and amplified playback speakers. We also include lens filters and .7 and .5 Century Precision Optics wide-angle adapter set for added versatility.

Proper lighting is crucial to any production, so we've put our nearly 30 years of film and video lighting experience into selecting the right tools to do the job. Our basic package includes more than most advanced packages, and we can even put a complete 3-ton grip truck from Danny Boy Services to work for you when the need arises.
